A teenage gang who robbed Cambodian youths of their clothing and belt buckles while flaunting their actions on Facebook was apprehended by the police. The incident took place at around 9.30pm yesterday, according to the investigative team at Bang Phli Police Station.

The investigation led officers to a house in Bang Pla, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province. Authorities had received intelligence about a group of youths suspected of using knives to rob Cambodian teenagers of their clothing and belt buckles.

The victims, aged 15 and 17, reported the crime to Bang Phli Police Station on the morning of May 20.

Upon investigation, two members of the teenage gang, aged 16 and 17, were encircled by police in an apartment. The ensuing search revealed two school shirts and a belt buckle matching the victims’ descriptions.

Additionally, two modified homemade firearms were discovered.

Following this, the police extended their investigation and captured two more gang members. Another 17 year old teenager and 20 year old Tanakorn, both of which were involved in the crime.

Police Colonel Phairoj Phetphloi, the Superintendent of Bang Phli Police Station, explained that the gang’s modus operandi involved riding motorcycles and confronting the Cambodian youths on Sansuk Road in Bang Chalong, Bang Phli District.

Then, using a machete, the teen gang threatened the victims and stole their school shirts and belt buckles, said Phairoj.

“After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene. Once the victims reported the crime, we immediately began tracking the suspects. One of the culprits even posted photos of the stolen items on Facebook, boasting about their actions. This evidence allowed us to secure a search warrant and apprehend the suspects,”

The suspects have since confessed to the crimes. The teen gang have been charged with armed robbery using firearms and vehicles, and possession of illegal firearms, and will face further questioning in the presence of multidisciplinary professionals as part of the legal process, reported Khaosod.
